Summer Camp

Sending your kids to YMCA Camp Eberhart gives them the opportunity to learn and grow in an extraordinary environment. The skills learned during their time at camp will be used throughout their lives and they will never forget the time they spend here. We hear it from campers old and new, there is no place like YMCA Camp Eberhart in all the world.

Summer campers - depending on their age, experience and interest - can participate our week-long Traditional Resident Camp, Three-Day Resident Camp, Counselor-In-Training (CIT) Camp, a four-week program for young adults and our very popular Equestrian Camping programs.

Traditional Resident Camp

Traditional resident camp at YMCA Camp Eberhart is our flagship program.  For over 105 years, our summer program has safely allowed children to learn new skills, belong to something bigger than themselves, and create lifelong friendships.  Campers and parents can select from a variety of programs prior to attending camp while also allowing the camper to try out some of our other programs during our open period.  Ready to take the next step?  Try waterskiing, high ropes, or horses.

While at camp, campers will be in cabins with highly trained staff who are minimally high school graduates, are First Aid/CPR certified, and truly care about every camper that comes through our gates.

More efficient schedule allowing campers to reach more Awards within their schedule. Sibling discounts make camp more affordable for families.  Better registration system make signing up easier than ever.  Parents are able to monitor store accounts from home to make sure their camper can get everything they need from the camp store. Online scheduler allows parents and campers to pick the programs they want on a first come first serve basis to truly personalize their camp experience.  Online cabinmate requests allows campers to ensure they are in the cabins with their best friends.  And so much more to come.

Register today before spots fill up!

EPIC WEEK is the final week of camp, and we go BIG! New ideas are tried, programs are open and cookouts are over the top. It is truly EPIC. Spots are limited, so register early.

Three-Day Resident Camp

A short-term exposure to Resident Camp for the first-time camper (ages 7-10). Campers attend camp beginning with our regular Sunday registration through Wednesday evening. Program participation will consist of regular camp activities and specialty programs available at the full week price. Campers will be housed with children their own age and the cabin groups will have a mixture of three-day participants and regular campers. Campers who are enjoying their stay and wish to finish out the entire week can do so (a small additional fee is necessary).

Day Camp

Day Camp is designed to give younger campers a taste of camp programs. From their arrival at 8:30 to departure at 4:30, campers spend a full and busy day rotating between sailing, swimming, canoeing, arts and crafts, games, pony rides, and many more exciting activities. For a very reasonable price, campers can combine the camp experience with the luxuries of living at home.  Campers ages 4-12 can experience almost all of what Camp has to offer by signing up for one week or, signing up for every week of the summer!  Transportation from South Bend, IN and Granger, IN is available each week for an additional fee.

(Completion of sophomore year of high school is required)
This special two-week program is designed to help young adults develop skills needed to become effective leaders and potential summer camp staff members. CITs are under the direction of the camp's Leadership Development Director and senior cabin leaders, receiving training in working with children and learning program activity skills. CITs gain practical experience by assisting staff with camp activities and programs. Campers wishing to attend should complete an application for acceptance into the program.

The Equestrian Program is an integral part of life at YMCA Camp Eberhart. Two special horseback riding programs are offered:

Horseback Riding (Ages 9-16): This program is offered to boys and girls of any riding skill level (beginner, intermediate, advanced) who are registered in our Traditional Resident Camp. Participants in this program spend 90 minutes a day at the camp stables enjoying riding lessons, trail rides and learning about horses.

Horsemasters (Ages 10-16): This is an advanced-level program for those boys and girls who love horses so much that they want to spend most of their time at the stables. They enjoy 3 hours a day of riding lessons, trail rides and the opportunity to feed, groom and saddle their own mounts. This program is highlighted by a weekly Saturday morning horse show. Participants in this program must already be able to ride proficiently at a walk and trot.

Astro Camp

Astro Camp is one of the country's premier programs for young campers. The unique Astro Camp program is designed for boys and girls ages 10 and up. The mind of a 10-year-old is curious and eager to discover. They are ready to begin the great adventure of exploring the universe with the endurance to stay up after dark, stargazing and telescoping. Ten is a great age to start, and Astro Camp is the best place to start this subject learning!  Astro Camp 2018 will be held July 29 - August 4th.
